Tokyo, JAPAN - April 19, 2005 --
VA Linux Systems Japan K.K. (VA Linux), a
leading provider of Linux solutions for the telecommunications and
enterprise systems markets, today announced that VA Quest, VA Linux's
brand-new failure analysis solution service for the Linux kernel (released
on April 5) is successful in making contracts with major Japanese solution
providers such as ITOCHU TECHNO-SCIENCE Corporation (CTC), UFJIS Co., Ltd.,
NTT Comware Corporation, NTT Data Intellilink Corporation and several
others. VA Linux's new solution has been widely acclaimed in the IT
industry in Japan since its introduction.
VA Quest offers consultation services by VA Linux's accomplished Linux
kernel experts. They thoroughly analyze failure on customers' GNU/Linux
systems by reading the source code of the Linux kernel and memory dump, and
then track the reason down, offer the way to fix or avoid the problem,
provide patches, etc. Now Linux is cutting its way to the market of
mission-critical key systems, and major SI enterprises put much value on VA
Linux's second-to-none technological knowledge on Linux-based systems and
the Linux kernel itself.
"CTC is now reinforcing our services on Linux, as much as Solaris" said
Takao Kurabayashi, the head of Platform Technology, IT Engineering
division, CTC. "Our customers' demands for building up IT systems using
GNU/Linux and OSS solutions are getting high. When CTC gets such requests,
VA Linux's reliable IT consulting service is highly valuable. Also, we ask
VA Linux to do advance Linux kernel failure analysis on our delivered
system. In any case, we are very contented with VA Linux's timely and
well-suited services."
"We are deploying GNU/Linux-based systems for our key systems including
banking services" said Yasushi Kanbara, the head of Open Platform division,
UFJIS. "VA Linux's analysis service and traceability feature are quite
impressive. Also, we rate VA Linux's quick fix and practical
recommendation to avoid problem very highly."
"We at VA Linux feel very honored with high appraisal and trust from major
SI titans in Japan", said Tetsuya Ueda, President and CEO of VA Linux in
Tokyo. "We are glad that they take highly of VA Linux's technological
excellence, and deep from-source-code level knowledge on the Linux kernel.
Also, we are glad that VA Linux and Linux-based solutions now begin to be
accepted in the Japanese market of mission-critical systems, too. VA Linux
continues to acquire and nurture able kernel engineers, and work hard to
meet our customers' demands and trust."
